October 5, 2007 Blog No Comments

Web 2.0 technologies help people “do stuff”. Usually this means making ordinary, often time-consuming or error-prone tasks, easier to complete. Several Web 2.0 generation web sites provide party planners with tools that can help them create and manage social events. Each of these services has strengths and weaknesses, so determining which one might be best for you involves a little research. We’ve prepared a brief list of sites you might consider using the next time you host a shindig.

  • Evite.com – With more than 15 million registered users, Evite.com is the top online destination for invitations. A free service, Evite.com estimates it saves party planners millions of dollars in paper invitations and postage each month. With party-planning tools and content, the site helps hosts be more successful while saving even more money and time. Tools include: Event checklists, Budget Estimator, Drink Calculator, and Invitations.
  • MyPunchbowl – A web application that provides software for every stage of planning. For the host, MyPunchbowl provides help with these common tasks and more: picking a date, sending invitations, choosing catering and entertainment, purchasing party supplies, and renting party equipment.
  • Socializr A free web service for sharing event and party information with your friends. Features include: invitations, RSVPs, forums, and photo posting and sharing.
