More Than A Screen Shot: Kwout Captures What You Want, Including Clickable Hyperlinks
There have been many times we’ve wanted to use a screen shot of a website to illustrate an article on The Content Wrangler, but we chose not to, because the image was full of hypertext links. Images that contain hyperlinks that don’t work are confusing to site visitors. But, thanks to the folks at Kwout, avoiding website screen captures because of inactive hyperlinks is a thing of the past. You see, Kwout works differently than other screen capture tools. It helps you capture not only the way a page looks, but it also captures how it functions, including clickable hypertext links. Now that’s useful!

Using Kwout is easy. Visit the website, enter a URL, and Kwout will generate a piece of code that you can copy and paste into your your blogging or website development software. Kwout also provides easy to install “bookmarklettes” that activate Kwout when you need it, saving you the hassle of returning to the Kwout website each time you need a clickable screenshot.

Interesting synchronicity today… was just describing the OS X-only tool Skitch to a colleague. Kwout has an interesting tweak on traditional screenshots, and is platform independent. Hmm.
Good to see there is still life in innovating around screenshots, and in taking advantage of hypertext along with it.
