I am French and speak five a languages. I worked as on web site internationalization and localization.
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
One point to understand is that localized websites are more about &#8220;cultures&#8217; than languages. For instance, in Belgium, you have the a French and a Dutch speaking region.
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
This means that in an ideal world, global websites should be able to address people in their culture (and not only in their language).
