Adobe Captivate 3 Receives Industry Accolades

March 27, 2008 Blog No Comments

Adobe Systems Incorporated today announced that Adobe Captivate 3 was named the market leading rapid eLearning, courseware authoring and simulation tool by the eLearning Guild Research 360º Report on Authoring and Development Tools. The eLearning Guild surveyed more than 1,440 of its more than 27,000 members for insight into and direction for navigating the massive eLearning landscape. The survey entailed five parts, including rapid eLearning tools, courseware authoring tools, simulation tools, media tools, as well as the processes for combining and deploying authoring tools.

“Our research highlighted the strides Adobe Captivate has made within the industry over the past year,” said Steve Wexler, director of research and emerging technologies for The eLearning Guild. “The numbers clearly identify Captivate as a key tool for developing eLearning materials with more than 62 percent of Guild members using the software. Our surveys show Captivate is an easy-to-use, feature-rich, multi-purpose tool that Guild members want to use.”

The eLearning Guild Research 360º Report on Authoring and Development Tools offered several key findings about Adobe Captivate. When reporting usage by Guild members working in corporations, nearly 80 percent use Adobe Captivate to create simulations and 65 percent use Adobe Captivate for eLearning development. Fewer than six percent of Guild members who use Captivate use it because it is a management requirement, indicating that members use it because they want to. Adobe Captivate also enjoys both entrenchment and new product sales for rapid eLearning, courseware authoring and simulation development.

In addition, Adobe Captivate 3 was recently awarded a Jolt Productivity Award in the Utilities category by Dr. Dobb’s Journal. The annual Jolt Awards recognize innovative, trend-making, ahead-of-the-curve products and are selected by a panel of judges consisting of industry insiders, columnists and technology leaders. Adobe Captivate 3 is also a finalist for the annual CODIE Awards for Best Corporate Learning Solution and Best Education Technology Solution for Productivity/Creativity, which will be presented by the Software & Information Industry Association on May 20, 2008.

“We’re pleased to offer one of the most flexible and popular eLearning authoring tools available on the market today,” said Silke Fleischer, Senior Product Marketing Manager for Adobe Captivate. “We’re dedicated to the eLearning industry and we take these accomplishments as a challenge to continue to enhance Captivate and propel it to the next level of rapid eLearning authoring.”

Adobe launched Captivate 3 in July 2007 with new and enhanced features including multi-mode screen recording, automatic rerecording, Microsoft PowerPoint import capabilities, rollover slidelets for additional information, question pooling and randomized quizzing. The software is designed as an easy to use, powerful eLearning authoring and screen capture tool for the delivery of robust and engaging software demos, computer-based simulations, scenario-based training, and interactive quizzes. Adobe Captivate generates interactive Adobe Flash® Player .SWF files without any programming skills necessary. In addition, Adobe Captivate supports other rich media formats including MP3 and AVI files and is compatible with eLearning tools such as SCORM 2004, SCORM 1.2, AICC and PENS compliant Learning Management Systems (LMS).
