Breeze Through Airport Security With The CLEAR Pass

April 4, 2008 Blog No Comments

image This weekend I’ll be using the CLEAR Pass for the first time to get through airport security. According to the folks who run the program, CLEAR pass holders breeze through security and don’t wait in line—average time through security is 4 minutes or less for holders of the CLEAR pass.

Applying for a CLEAR Pass is easy! Set up your account and complete the online application, following the on-screen instructions. After submitting your application, visit the CLEAR station at the Indianapolis airport (located outside of the AirTran ticket counter). Bring with you the required acceptable identification (PDF).—a passport and driver’s license worked for me—and finish the application process. The attendants will take your fingerprints and perform a scan of your retinas and match those unique identifiers with scans of your passport and driver’s license. After your application is completed, you will receive your CLEAR card via US Mail a few weeks later.

When traveling, CLEAR Pass holders proceed directly to the front of the security line, after quickly having their identity confirmed (present CLEAR Pass, have identification confirmed with a quick scan of your eye, and you’re off).

While a CLEAR Pass will cost you $100 (plus the TSA vetting fee of $28), you can extend your membership and get one month free when you use discount code DSCAM1111400.
