Office Open XML Officially Approved As International Standard

The open document standard Office Open XML has been approved by the International Organization for Standardization, something open source standards advocates have been waiting for some time. Critics say they are curious about last minute voting changes (several countries changed their votes from disapproval or abstention to approval in the eleventh hour) by countries including Norway, whose last-minute “yes” vote has raised questions about legitimacy, according to a Norwegian IT blog.
