I started using Twitter when our company sponsored a large conference and publicized a Twitter search term for any tweets about the conference (eg, #thisconference). People were tweeting stuff they learned in the different workshops, which was useful for people who could not attend.

Wrangler:

I recently discovered places such as your only a few days ago.

I saw on article on another topic but I had read the one where had dealings with ATT and love them.

I had to smile. Reason: I have been around computers since 1969 as a user and not as a computer specialist.

I love ATT but I had a similar problem with Earthlink and I got a man who solved my problem in a gracious manner after he told me I had to call an office during certain hours to report a Credit Card that the Bank said has been compromise. I persisted and he solved my problem.

I learned long ago never get angry with persons at the lower level; ask for the superivsor. You know what that means.

When I went to Earthlink, the Chat business comes on. I had to be taught how to use that. The is the level at which I was helped.

Thank for causing me to smile. Excellent article.position87

Great article, Scott! It’s fascinating to see the many different ways that people—and companies—use Twitter to make their mark. Thanks for including me.

I’ve posted my own thoughts on using Twitter at DBE’s blog and recommended your article to our readers: http://dbesem.blogspot.com/2009/02/to-tweet-or-not-to-tweet.html

Kudos!

Jason Morgan provided this comment via Linkedin about how their firm uses Twitter:

“We use the search and trending part of Twitter to see what people are saying about us and our products… right NOW. That’s pretty amazing to get such genuine information in real time. It allows companies like to us to make intentional decisions quickly. Now developers are making all kinds of apps to aggregate your feeds to customize even more. And Twitter is working now on the ability to separate their “friends” into groupings that would get tweets that are most relevent to them. A simple idea… and this is only the beginning of the micro-blogging possibilities.”

We set one up but really havent utilized it...Some complain that the 140 chars limits to what they are really doing, but its a great idea.
