Help Us Update Our Image: The Content Wrangler Logo Design Contest

August 30, 2011 Blog 1 Comment

Our Old Logo Needs A Makeover And You Need $500

Are you a graphic artist or logo designer with a flair for smart design that works well in our socially-connected world? If so, now’s your chance to prove it — and earn $500 cash.

The Content Wrangler is seeking submissions for a new corporate logo. What’s needed is a logo set that works in many places (on this blog, as well as on social network profile pages on Twitter and Facebook) where size requirements are exacting.

What we’re looking for

The trend is toward logos that are square — they fit nicely into the pre-defined templates one has to fill out when setting up profiles, as well as in banner ads, etc. As such, we’re seeking a logo that fits nicely into a 125 x 125 pixel container, but also looks good at smaller sizes. The perfect solution will also work as an icon (like the familiar Twitter, Linkedin, and Facebook icons pictured here).

The logo must encapsulate the idea behind the brand. If you read The Content Wrangler, you know what it’s all about — content. We’d also like it to have a clean, modern feel. Be aware, the logo does not have to match the existing website (colors, fonts, design). Shortly after we select the new logo, we’ll be developing a new site design. So, use your imagination and creativity.

To enter the contest, submit two sizes of the new logo and two sizes of the icon version (in .eps or .png format) via email no later than October 1, 2011.

Submit (1) 125 x 125 pixel and (1) 73 x 73 pixel version of the logo, and (1) 16 x 16 pixel and (1) 32 x 32 pixel version of the icon. We’d love it if you were to be able to incorporate the words “The Content Wrangler” into the larger version, but if not, feel free to use “TCW” instead. The resolution of the images should be high — sufficient for use in print (as we’ll be using this logo on conference programs, business cards, as well as the web).

All entries will be posted to The Content Wrangler blog on October 3, 2011. Site visitors will be asked to comment on and vote for their favorite logo. The voting period will last four weeks. We’ll take the votes from the crowd, and our own judgement into consideration when selecting the winner. We will announce the winner Monday, October 31 on TheContentWrangler.com. A $500 commission will be awarded the winning entry.

What are you waiting for? Get busy! Let me know if you have any questions on concerns.

And, please share this offer with others via your social networks. Thanks in advance for your help!

If you are a professional logo designer and would like to submit a quote for the work described here, we’ll gladly take a look at it. It’s not that we’re against logo design as a discipline, nor that we’re seeking to hire cheap labor, instead, we like the community approach to design. And, giving students and other members of our 24,000 community a chance to showcase their work (and maybe make a few bucks) is a good thing.
